Horoscopes for the New Moon in Taurus

Holly reminds us that love and a relaxed sense of personal empowerment are our greatest strengths in this life.

Holly reminds us that love and a relaxed sense of personal empowerment are our greatest strengths in this life.

The collective Flower Essence card for this New Moon in Taurus is Holly.

Holly speaks to our need to balance the extremes of love and hate. As a collective card, it goes beyond these emotional extremes in relationships and speaks to the general need to cultivate an approach that is more centered in trust. Our trust must go beyond any human relationship or singular event and move into a basic disposition of trust in the Divine and the supportive role the Divine plays in taking care of us on our personal journeys. We must remember that much of what we experience in reality is only a very small part of the greater picture of what is taking place in our universe. It is easy for us to get wrapped up in the 3-D concerns of our lives: finances, responsibilities, work, managing relationships and families, and we forget to look at things from a greater universal/wholisitic perspective.

This greater perspective, however, is exactly what keeps the mundane aspects of life in balance. We are able to remain in balance much more easily when we step outside of the singular concerns of our life and tune into the vast universal drama that is playing out inside and around us. We must remember this mystery and cultivate trust (Holly) in its divine knowing, timing and blessings. Things don’t always happen the way that we would like them to, but luckily, our reaction to life is in our control. We can either be resentful and afraid, or trusting and relaxed in our power. Our power comes from our contact + connection with the Divine, so cultivating this relationship is everything in times of both trial and abundance.

The New Moon takes place at 14 degrees Taurus and is exact on May 4th at 6:45 PM EST

The Sabian symbol for 14 degrees Taurus is:

On the beach, children play while shellfish grope at the edge of the water

Dane Rudhyar states that this symbol refers to the return of simple pleasures in life in order to experience restoration and revitalization.

Water always symbolically represents the subconscious mind. Our desires, needs, behaviours, emotions, and thoughts all have a connection to our subconscious mind. It is the true bedrock on which our self-conscious mind operates. In this illustration, the shellfish in water represent our subconscious nature + desires, while the children playing represent our conscious mind, learning + integrating new information regarding sociocultural concerns that keep us engaged in the outer world.

There is a suggestion here to release our attachments to egoic ambitions and return to a calm simplicity enface our lives in the outside world. This is a reflection of an attitude of acceptance and peace in the inner world. If we have taken the time to cultivate faith in divine timing + trust in the rejuvenation process, this period can be incredibly nourishing. However, the modern world makes it difficult to truly see through the illusion of glamour, often keeping us hostage to a way of life that is defined by continually striving rather than constant + conscious appreciation of all there is. This is a time to return to nature (Taurus), to live in the rhythm of her cues and to in this way balance the inner landscape of sub + self-conscious impulses, allowing our surrender + acceptance to create harmony within.

The retrogradation of three planets during this time: Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto, does collectively challenge our ability to sit contently in our current state. Jupiter retrograde in Sagittarius is asking whether our belief systems are truly serving our journey, again bringing up the question of faith. Saturn and Pluto retrograding in Capricorn question the structures which we believe to be the ultimate reality of our socio-cultural system. Is this really all there is or is there more than meets the eye? And if so, does our belief system (Jupiter) allow for the proper breakdowns + breakthroughs (Pluto) of our current structures (Saturn/Capricorn) in order to achieve greater personal empowerment (Pluto) and attract greater opportunities for growth + mastery (Jupiter/Saturn)?

Move through this New Moon with the calm certainty of the buds that are awaiting their bloom. There is no telling exactly when the conditions will be right for the flower to unfold and share its magic with the world, but there is the promise of a blooming period, if we are able to relax into the waiting process. Release resistance and if your striving is creating anxiety within, know that it’s not yet the time to display your colours to the world.

Alternatively, if you are finding yourself in a great period of abundance and movement, return to the simple pleasures of being to ground yourself and maintain roots in your fertile soils so they can keep producing opportunities for you.

Confront the inner disciplinarian that tells you that you can’t have fun or be loose with your creative urges. Not all creative activity has to produce tangible results. Often, it is for the therapeutic effects alone that we engage in self-expression, although your tendency may be to somewhat repress this playful creativity within you because of your perfectionism. Plant the seeds of how you would like to transform this inner dialogue and invite in more confidence and joy while peeling away the pressures of shame and self-imposed restriction.

Aquarius and Aquarius Rising

This New Moon falls in your fourth house of home life and your deepest emotional needs, Aquarius. It will ease conflicts in relationships and instill confidence in those who you wish you impress professionally. Share what you are discovering and what makes you feel excited about life. The response will be more inviting than you might think.

All is well. All is kindness. All is moving towards an evolutionary point. Trust in the process.
