The Sabian symbol for 10 degrees Libra is:

Having passed safely down narrow rapids, a canoe reaches calm waters

Rudhyar states that this symbol relates to “the self-control and poise necessary to reach a steady state of inner stability,” specifically in reference to the emotional nature.

Self-control, poise, decisiveness, and freedom from illusion through the implementation of newly functional structures within our relationships are all themes of this Full Moon.

It is clear that we have left the transmutational and ambiguous waters of Pisces season, but we are not fully in the clear. What has emerged from the confrontation and resolution of our wounding is the need to create new structured responses to life’s struggles that are both reflective of our inner authenticity and used to elevate our connections with others.

The Sun comes into a conjunction with Mercury retrograde in Aries while opposing the Moon, and both luminaries square a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Capricorn. Meanwhile, Venus and Uranus are also in conjunction, although Venus has chosen this same day to move into the sign of Taurus. As the Aries-Libra axis is being highlighted alongside the sign’s respective planetary rulers, Mars and Venus, much is to be said anent the balancing of our projective will and self-assertion with our receptive yin energy of compromise and fusion. To what degree does conflict create the groundwork for future harmony and to what degree do we value the beauty that can be found by compromising and unifying our lives with others?

The image of the canoe in calm waters and having passed through rapids to reach this point indicates that our strife yields much positive result if it is integrated in a balanced way. Venus in a conjunction with Uranus says our ideals for utopian relationships and highly developed personal connections that flourish under each persons’ commitment to taking responsibility for themselves first are present at this time, and if we have been in any way working within an illusion of this ideal, it’s likely to blow up in our faces. How will we integrate the dissolution of what we thought the reality of our relationships was in order to provide greater emotional stability for ourselves? Saturn at the apex of the T-square created by its dialogue with the luminaries (the Sun & Moon) says now is the time for a realistic implementation of new structures, however instead of limiting structures these ones must support greater freedom and personal growth. We may crave to break ties with others or isolate ourselves based on the disappointment we may experience because of our shattered illusions, but that is not fully the answer.

The Sun conjunct Mercury retrograde urges us to reassess the way we make decisions in life. During Mercury retrograde periods, it is very valuable to maintain a daily meditation practice to source which thoughts are stemming from feeling based realizations, and which thoughts are being introduced via the rational mind acting divorced from the rest of our visceral experience. When asking yourself what new frameworks need to be built, seek the way the body reacts and ask the body to show through feeling where the direction of any major decisions made will take you. If you find tension, pain, sorrow, and urgency stationed in any of your energy centres, think very carefully about what these sensations are communicating. Don’t be hasty or impulsive with your desires to move forward. Keep your personal will and ego in check in order make the most mindful and balanced decisions. Don’t freeze completely, but don’t destroy what is in front of you through impulsive action either.

Frustration and anger are signs that your inner warrior needs to be tended to, so don’t wage war on the outer world because of a sense of limitation. Saturn teaches us a lesson about the importance of taking responsibility and implementing organized change, so it’s not going to happen overnight and it may take a greater investment of energy to resolve, but the end result will be more fruitful.

Adding to this sentiment, I’d like to share the Sabian symbol for 10 degrees Aries, where the Sun is stationed during this Full Moon:

A teacher gives new symbolic forms to traditional images

In Rudhyar’s words this symbol evokes “a revision of attitude at the beginning of a new cycle of experience.”

This counsel is a beautiful merging of the energies of Uranus and Saturn so present during this Moon. Don’t throw out the old but instead work from it to create what is new and movable. Build upon the foundation that is already present to you instead of starting all over again. Although the impulse is to destroy in order to start anew, this will not serve your integration of the current energies. Enter the mechanics of the situation to see where the source problems lay and work outward from the heart of the matter. It will open you up to greater stability, which is what we are all ultimately seeking when in a state of chaos. Sink your senses deeper into the soil from which the plant grows and it will inform you of its needs. A larger space to grow, perhaps, or a sunnier and more open place to dwell. The solution is in the structure rather than outside of it.

Aries and Aries Rising

This Full Moon falls in your seventh house of marriage and partnership, Aries. Your energies of self-investment and personal discovery alongside the expression of your will are likely at an all time high, as this is your season. However, this Moon is reminding you that balancing your initiatives with positive, harmonious relationships is an important part of easing the erratic nature of your inner warrior. Reflect on the intimate relationship between creation and destruction and weigh out how balanced these two extremes are when they show up in your life. In order to create, the old must be transmuted and in some sense is destroyed, but how softly can you weave change and progress into your life? Creating seamless transition is key, so take note of this balance before you launch with full force ahead.

Taurus and Taurus Rising

This Full Moon falls in your sixth house of health, daily ritual and work, Taurus. As several planets are stationed in your twelfth house at this time, it’s likely been a continuation of the themes of release and healing that were so present during Pisces season. This Moon is reminding you of the importance of maintaining positive daily habits around the maintenance of good health, and asks you to take note of where disorganization, lack of mindfulness, and lack of consequence is getting in the way of you living in a healthfully radiant state. Recognize that any physical imbalances you are experiencing at this time are a reflection of what needs to change and shift in your life so you can live with more happiness and balance.

Gemini and Gemini Rising

This Full Moon falls in your fifth house of creativity, self-expression and romance, Gemini. You’ve likely found yourself making new friends and increasing your community involvement as the Sun transits your eleventh house. This Moon is reminding you of the creative skills and talents you have to contribute to that community and beyond to the greater whole, and asks you how invested you are in the pursuit of your long-term goals through the active development of your interests and the freedom to express them in the outside world. If there are new structures that need to be built in order for you to pursue your passions, now is the time to start building them.

Cancer and Cancer Rising

This Full Moon falls in your fourth house of home life and deepest emotional needs, Cancer. The focus here is on the balance of your work-life with your self-care practices that nurture your sense of emotional safety and inner security. This is your natural house in the horoscope, and so these energies are more familiar to your expression. If you are feeling a lack of inner nourishment because too much focus has been placed on career matters and a very public or outwards expression of your energies, now is a good time to take action in retrieving more balance in your life. Rest is just as productive when balanced with equal motion.

Leo and Leo Rising

This Full Moon falls in your third house of communication, learning and neighbourhood contacts, Leo. If you have found yourself immersed in studies, travel (whether to faraway destinations or to the far corners of your mind), and the analysis and comprehension of spiritual truths and concepts, this Moon is reminding you to ground your intellectual pursuits down into the motions of your day-to-day life. Take what you have learned and use it to enrich your daily experience and decision-making process. Express what excites you and any new ideas you have been chewing on with others and see where the conversation takes you. Stay open to different viewpoints and ways of experiencing the world, so that you can make the most of the knowledge that is coming your way from all directions.

Virgo and Virgo Rising

This Full Moon falls in your second house of finances, personal resources and self-worth, Virgo. As the Sun transits your eighth house, you have likely found yourself in a period of transition and have had to confront the emotional and mental patterns that disempower you. Recognize that releasing these old resentments and conditioned behavioural responses can be strengthened by recognition of your personal worth and potential, outside of any financial, relational or job-related circumstance. Any pain that is surfacing at this time is trying to reveal the ways in which you deny your power or obstruct your own path to inner peace. Rather than a call to asserting your ego, this is a call to working on your inner world so that it is one of peace and harmony, as that will become the foundation of your true power to attract what you desire in your life.

Libra and Libra Rising

This Full Moon falls in your first house of self-discovery and authenticity, Libra. As the Sun transits your seventh house of relationships, you are likely reflecting a lot on how closely your partnership and friendships reflect your personal ideal for harmony and equality. This Moon is reminding you of the importance of the expression of your unique and authentic self inside of all your relationships, and suggests that this is imperative to creating the harmony you desire. Any compromise that is made in a relationship must be honoured by the other person’s willingness to also make compromise for you. Reflect on what relationships allow for your most authentic and radiate self-expression and strive to bring more of that openness and freedom to all your relational dynamics.

Scorpio and Scorpio Rising

This Full Moon falls in your twelfth house of spirituality and healing, Scorpio. As the Sun transits your sixth house of work and daily ritual, this Moon is reminding you of the inner work that needs to be done in order to benefit the flow and health of your outer life. As you work to organize a better and more balanced daily regimen, recognize what aspects of the difficulties you are experiencing relate to old and potentially inherited ways of reacting to the outside world. Much awareness and even revelation can be brought to you if you are willing to look at the way you compromise your own well-being and to begin a mindfulness practice around transforming these emotional/mental patterns once you have discovered them. Release, forgiveness and deep self-discovery are all keywords to this process.

Sagittarius and Sagittarius Rising

This Full Moon falls in your eleventh house of friendship, long-term goals and community, Sagittarius. Your creativity and self-expression is flowing freely at this time, and this Moon is reminding you of how your personal interests and passions can be used to benefit your community and even extend further into the reaches of the human family. Now is not the time to be shy about what you are able to contribute to others and your radiance in self-expression will be an inspiration to those around you to follow their own unique vision of success, making their own personal contributions to the whole. Embrace the opportunities that are handed to you at this time for the development of your talents and enjoy the fiery freedom of Aries season.

Capricorn and Capricorn Rising

This Full Moon falls in your tenth house of career and life purpose, Capricorn. This is your natural house in the horoscope and is an energy that is rather familiar to you. However, as the Sun transits your fourth house, the message of this Moon is more in balancing the efforts you apply towards career growth and public recognition alongside a proper practice of rest and self-nurturance at home. Recognize that the growth you seek in the outer world is amplified by the time you spend in service to your self-care practice and emotional needs. The progress and forward motion that awaits you will come much more easily if you trust it enough to make time for rest. The journey up the mountain will never be completed without sufficient periods of relaxation, so enjoy the universal blessing to take that time for yourself now.

Aquarius and Aquarius Rising

This Full Moon falls in your ninth house of spiritual belief systems, holistic thought and long-distance travel, Aquarius. As the Sun transits your third house, you’ve likely been exploring your desire to communicate your ideas openly with friends and neighbours, and have been eager to learn and exchange knowledge with others. This Moon is asking you to take the information you’ve acquired and elevate it to the next level- in a way that supports your search for the Godhead on the Earth plane, and transmutes your immediate experiences and thoughts into wisdom that can be used to guide your day-to-day decision making process. If you haven’t already, take some time to journal or write about the new ideas that have been permeating your headspace, and see what personal anecdotes you can extract from working them out in this way and on a larger scale.

Pisces and Pisces Rising

This Full Moon falls in your eighth house of transformation, endings and personal empowerment, Pisces. As the Sun transits your second house, you are likely more conscious of the role that your finances are playing in your daily life, and this may have brought some questions of self-worth and proper management of personal resources to mind. This Moon is asking you to examine what areas of your emotional and behavioural patterns may stem from very old and habitual ways of dealing with pain and pressure, and how these comfort-seeking habits may lend a destructive hand to the territory of your personal finances and the way you think about your self-worth. It is important to recognize the role that the active release of these patterns alongside the integration of new, healthier emotional narratives plays on the landscape of your financial well-being. What could you let go of today to make room for something better, more prosperous and more empowering to come into your life?
